It's my Happy Birthday!

~~When Ellie was younger she used to think her entire birthday was called her "Happy Birthday".  So during her birthday week she used to ask when her Happy Birthday was coming.  Of course she used to just call birthday cake Birthday too - "Can I have some more Birthday?".  It's just all so confusing, isn't it?

My birthday is coming up on Tuesday and since James will be out of town on business we celebrated my birthday this weekend.  We started it off with a trip down to the Original Pancake House for our favorite breakfast – the Apple Pancake.  Unfortunately it wasn’t as good as we remembered it being when we used to get in Pittsburgh.  Of course it could have been the company that made the pancake taste better back then as we usually hit the pancake house with our good friends Cory and Michelle – we were missing you guys this weekend!    A picture from our visit to the pancake house:

James also arranged for our friends to take care of the kids so he and I could get out for a fabulous dinner at Mickey and Mooch!  Talk about being spoiled!  Of course it was prom night in the area so we had the pleasure of watching high school kids all dressed up trying to act like adults.  It was a bit reminiscent of my prom in Rochester – which is scary since I didn’t think those dresses would ever be back in style – frilly, colorful and full skirts seem to be back in….  Such a tragedy as that style really doesn’t look good on anyone…

My birthday weekend didn’t end there.  This morning I awoke to breakfast in bed – blueberry pancakes with strawberries on top!

The best part of the whole weekend though was watching James make me a carrot cake!!  Yes – it finally happened.  I have been asking James for carrot cake for my birthday for 10 years now and he finally made it!!  It may have taken him all weekend and 4 trips to the grocery store to do it, but I loved it!  It looked and tasted soooo good and just the fact that he spent the time to make it meant so much to me.   Here are some pictures from my birthday weekend!
