To cap off the spring break week, I took the afternoon off on Friday and we embarked on a bike adventure! We decided to stray a little further from our normal pastures and headed for the Mallard Creek Greenway (http://www.charmeck.org/Departments/Park+and+Rec/Greenways/Mallard+and+Clark%27s+Creek.htm).
Check out the picture of the loaded up Jeep - we filled that thing with bikes, trailers, helmets, tool kits, air pumps, video cameras, digital cameras, and picnic paraphernalia! I was a little surprised by how much prep was required for a simple trip to the greenway but in the end it was VERY worth it.
We started things off with a .25 mi ride to a playground where we ate our lunch and then continued for another 2 mi or so to the end of one of the greenway spurs. Along the way we discovered a catapiller, explored lots of sidewalk access paths (Ellie and Ava loved shooting down those hilly, narrow sidewalks), took some live bike rolling video, and found an amazing "natural" climbing wall. After a few hours in the 80 degree weather we were hot, sweaty, and ready for....Baskin Robin's!
If anyone is interested in scheduling another Greenway Adventure, let me know - we are ready for another trip!
Oh - and the video is of Ava at her best...
