Yes friends and neighbors, the Conneely's were back in town for a whirlwind weekend. We managed to grab them for a couple hours by promising hot coffee and a sugar laden breakfast of decadent caramel soaked french toast. It was a fantastic time to catch up on life, see how much each other's kids had grown, and remember why it is that we miss them so much :(
Highlights of the visit:
- Caleb and Branson getting along just fine playing until the "S" word came up. You know...sharing. Let's just say Branson was not too happy about having to share his monster trucks, balls, or secret fireplace screen trap door.
- Realizing that when a 2 yr old does not grow up in a two story house that navigating stairs for the first time is not always a breeze... We are almost positive Caleb did NOT have a concussion...seriously.
- Laura lamenting that she had not had a hot cup of coffee in months. 2 year old life seems to always come up between the act of pouring and the act of drinking.
- Wish I could remember the exact words/phrases, but more unique vocabulary coming from the Patrick/Laura duo. We all miss our Conneely lingo lessons.
- Caleb's excitment at realizing that the fireplace screen has a door that swings open and that you can go "inside" and then close the door....on your fingers....repeatedly..... Oh how I wish Ellie/Ava had not shown that to Branson and I know Patrick/Laura wish Branson had not shown that to Caleb :) Darn those fancy Southern Living at Home fireplace engineers and their fancy pants inventions.
- Conversations about Chick-fil-a product between "think they know it all customers" and "actually know it all owners"
- Karin: "The chicken tender chicken is different than the chicken sandwich chicken"
- Laura: "Nope. It's the same"
- Karin (louder): No, it's different.
- Laura (louder): No, it's the same.
- Fist fight.
- Later..........
- Lindsey: "The gallon sweet tea tastes different than the large cup of sweet tea"
- Laura: "It's the same"
- Lindsey (louder): "No, it's different"
- Laura (louder): No, it's the same"
- Fist fight.
It was so great to see ya'll this weekend. We miss you dearly and loved catching up....breakfast was scrumptious!!
