This past weekend I took the girls on one of our twice a year car camping trips. We headed up to our favorite place - Lake Norman State Park. I wonder if the kids really love camping or if their bodies are actually addicted to sugar and their sugar urge is so strong that they convince me it was my idea and then sucker me into packing 3 months worth of sugar into one weekend?
We started things off right by stopping at McDonald's on the way to the campground to get ice cream cones. Once at the site we ate dinner followed by an entire bag of Swedish fish. After our evening hike we came back and had smores over the fire. Then they snorted raw sugar and started running around the campsite yelling in some foreign language.
The next day we had orange juice, powdered doughnuts, and instant oatmeal. Later it was juice boxes, watermelon, and more smores. Sunday was Cinnamon crunch bagels, pancakes with syrup, and more powdered doughnuts...
I guess when they started glowing at night I should have known they had too much sugar...

Yes, he enjoyed his fair share of the tasty treats. I knew the sugar was getting to him on Sunday morning when he stripped down to his skivies and tried to climb a pole...
ReplyDeleteI think you're a genius... you've created a herd of life-long outdoor enthusiasts for the mere cost of 10-12 pounds of sugar (and maybe a few cavities).
