Ellie's Kindergarten Graduation

I can't believe our little Ellie is now a first grader....where did the year go?  The memory of her first day of school with her cute little jean dress heading to HCES for the first day is still so fresh...and now she is nothing resembling a young child - she is an intelligent, confident, "mature" little 6 year old.  What an amazing transformation.

During the "graduation" event at school (they call it a "celebration") her wonderful teacher Mrs. Ogden emotionally spoke of the privilege and honor she felt by taking in all our precious children - the responsibility she felt in knowing we were sending our most prized items on this earth to her classroom for 6 or 7 hours a day.  And you know, there isn't a single person I know of, or have heard of, or can imagine, who I would rather have my child with for 6 or 7 hours a day.  Julie took such amazing care of Ellie - and skillfully instructed her in such a way that Ellie could not help but LOVE to learn.  Mrs. Ogden joked about it during her little story about Ellie (see the video below) but it was totally true - there were so many times during the year when I would ask Ellie "are you glad it is the weekend" or "are you glad it is Christmas vacation" and she would be like "no, I wanna go back to school."  Uhh....ok....

Every parent has hidden fears about their child and what kind of experience they will have in (fill in the blank) pre-school, kindergarten, first grade, etc....  Karin and I certainly did and we have come out of this most important of first educational experiences SO blessed by the care and tutelage of Julie Ogden.

Thanks Julie - we owe you big time!!

I am including two videos with this post.  One is the actual End of Year DVD (8 minutes) that Julie and I tag teamed as a gift for the kids and parents and the second is a video of the actual graduation day (4 minutes).
