I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day. Here in Charlotte we had PERFECT weather. I was thinking about how as parents we have very few chances (maybe 15 or 20??) to share major holidays with our kids while they are still "young" and impressionable. I am always thankful on days like today when we can do fun stuff and the weather cooperates so well! I hope when my kids are 32 and spend a sunny Memorial Day at the pool they will have fond memories of their childhood like I do.
I was laying in our hammock with Branson today while he took a quick catnap before dinner. I was still in my bathing suit from the pool, I had that pool "feel" where your skin is a little tight from the chlorine, and I was feeling nice and sunbaked (not sunburned), and my neighbors air conditioners were running in the background. That feeling and that sound gave me such a strong memory of spending summers at my grandparents house laying by their pool on a lazy afternoon. I am very thankful for the great memories I have thanks to the efforts of my parents and grandparents.
