We had a nice low key Valentines this year. It actually started on Saturday night with an amazing - no a fantastic - dinner with the Duece's consisting of steak (thx to Jim Wright), Amy's roasted almond and lemon sauteed beans, Cesar salad, and homemade Yukon gold mashed potatoes. It was seriously one of the best dinners in recent memory.
Sunday morning found a pile of valentines on the kitchen table for the kiddos. Then it was off to church before heading to Nonna and Papa's house for a crazy good lunch. They served up this great potato soup with corn and beans + a panini bar with sandwich making items like avocados, tomatoes, cheeses, mayos, and roasted tomatoes and artichokes. Wow. Let's just say my sandwich barely fit on my plate :) Then to cap it off Nonna pulled out some cupcakes with homemade chocolate icing. This icing was seriously the best homemade icing I have ever had - it had the perfect amount of sweetness and texture. 3 cupcakes later and I was stuffed!
We then wrapped up this sugar laden holiday with Coldstone Creamery ice cream cookie sandwiches after dinner. Yikes. Good thing we don't indulge like this every day!
