I recently introduced the kids to some classic Looney Toons cartoons - you know....the ones that you and I used to watch on Saturday mornings. Before all this power rover, buzz light month, transformations, sponge square bob pants, etc... As much as I have enjoyed being re-acquainted with classic cartoon humor, I think I have enjoyed watching my kids reactions to these shows more than the show itself. They watch with this interested, amused, and unexpected look on their faces - hard to describe but very unique. Lately they have taken to watching them on my computer in the office
Anyway....my suggestion is to find a couple episodes for your kids and show them what real cartoons are like.

For the record, the one time that Reilly watched with the kids, she had her first night of night-terrors, apparently due to an episode where Yosemite Sam was trying to lock up Bugs Bunny and had a gun and Bugs was trying to get out.... Yeah, it was bad. She is clearly just as sensitive to "scary shows/movies" as Ellie!
ReplyDeleteLindsey, as a Certified Child Rearing Parent (CCRP), my suggestion is to have Shawn dress up as Yosemite Sam, grab two smith & wesson .45's, and wake Reilly up from a sound sleep by jumping up and down and yelling. This should bring an end to the Bugs Bunny related night terrors.
