The Day the Cows Came to the Swim Meet

This past Saturday was Ava's final swim meet of the season and she ended things on a high note.  We offered her a Silly Band Incentive Program (SBIP) which appears to have been the proper levers to pull b/c she finished 3 of her 4 races in first place!   The kid who cried trying to get across the pool on the first day of practice last year and who did not even want to be on the team this year at one point...

There are a number of Chick-fil-a owner/operators in HC and two of them sent their cow mascots to the meet to cheer on the hurricanes.  The kids loved it....well most of the kids...Branson is actually insanely afraid of any and all large, stuffed animal looking, walking, talking, mascots.  He saw the cows walking onto the pool deck and his grip started to tighten on mommy...then they got close and his face went from one of concern to extreme concern...then a cow turned to him in order to say hi to a happy little boy and Branson FREAKED with a look of world ending terror and that was the end of that.  We scored some free food vouchers so I guess it wasn't a total loss :)

  2. The boys chuckled at the photo of Branson. I recall them being afraid of Chuck E. Cheese at that age too. Congrats to Ava...keep up the swimming, it's a great sport. We should have an extended family reunion one of these summers...my kids want to meet everyone. Ty still has fond (albeit distant) memories of James!
