Spring and Sunshine

What a day...a glorious day!!  We have had an unusually long, cold, and wet winter and to have a day like today...it was a breath of fresh air.

  • We kicked things off with a fantastic breakfast of mexican puffed eggs, skillet potatoes, and coffee cake shared with Graham, Katie, and Titus.  We even got to open the windows and get a wonderful breeze.
  • Then Graham and I attempted to move a 400 pound bridge across a stream so that the kids could get to their friends house...we came close but ended up about 1 or 2 men short of the required lifting capacity.
  • I pulled out the chainsaw again and cut up a couple more fallen cedar trees to add to the good sized wood pile that is ready for some spring campfires.
  • Ellie begged me to take her to the rope swing that we found during our Christmas Family Hke, so we hiked under Millstream Ridge Rd down to the rope swing.  The big news here was that an initially timid and scared Ava Wray found herself swinging across the creek!!  She was so proud of herself - and rightfully so.
  • Ava and I hung out side by side on the hammock for about an hour while Ellie primped for the Father Daughter Dance.  At one point I was getting cold so my ever thoughtful little girl ran up the hill to the house, grabbed her favorite blanket, and brought it down.  Then we "napped" for 10 minutes and unfortunately had to put a stop to a really sweet time spent together.
  • When I came inside, Ellie had decided to give Branson a Wacky Hair Day treatment.  Poor little guy...
