Ava came home from preschool today and was telling us all about this amazing cupcake she had today - it was for someone's birthday. I was just messing with her and told that she had already had a special treat today and she was not allowed to have another - I put my hand out and told her to give back the cupcake. Her initial reaction was one of "oh that daddy, just kidding around again" but as she looked at my stone serious face her smile faded and she got serious....then a little worried. She then nervously shared with me that she could not give back the cupcake b/c it was "covered up". Karin and I looked at each other like "what??" and Ava continued to explain that she had eaten crackers after the cupcake and they were covering it up in her belly - that she could not get to it. One of those moments where you just shake your head in amazement at the way kids' brains work.
Later in the day Ava, Bouey, and I were over at the new house. I had left them in the car while I walked around the house to check things out. When I got back Ava had her shoes and socks off and was intently working on something. I asked her what the heck she was doing - she replied with total seriousness that she was just cleaning between her toes - that she had some stuff in there and was picking it out. I shook my head again, said gross, and considered having Karin audit the next bath to check cleaning techniques - apparently not working.....
