I honestly don't know where she comes up with this stuff, but she does it over and over again....This time, Karin pulled me into a brainstorming session about 2 weeks before Christmas to come up with 12 fun activities for the kids in order to do a 12 days till Christmas countdown. We wanted them to be things that would allow to spend some planned quality time together. My initial reaction was that we already are trying to do too much - can we fit in another "thing"? Turns out that this idea was a HUGE hit for the kids and for us...
Karin took our 12 ideas and wrote them on a slip of paper and then created the 12 Days of Christmas Chain. The words were written on the inside of a chain link and covered by another slip of paper which ensured no peeking. We then hung the chain on the tree. Each morning the VERY first thing the kids did was run downstairs to break off the next link of the chain and then coming running upstairs to tell us about it.
What were the 12 days of Christmas activities you ask? Well....here they are:
- Make a gingerbread house with Nono
- Make Druffles with daddy and Nono
- Christmas shopping trip with Mom to pick out Daddy's present
- Highland Creek Christmas light tour with popcorn
- Bake and decorate Christmas cookies with mom
- Watch a Christmas special (Grinch or Charlie Brown) and drink hot chocolate before bed (GASP!!!!!)
- Go to Monkey Joes (this was the kids favorite)
- Visit the Bank of America Bears in Founders Hall
- Breakfast in bed for the girls
- Shopping trip with daddy to get mom's Christmas present
- Christmas cocoa at Starbucks in Birkdale + animatronic bears + santa
- Taste testing in the official Uffleoff on Christmas Eve and open one Christmas present (new PJ's)
