The same question is asked every night when we tell the kids to go upstairs and get ready for bed - "are you going to bring up Branson". A response of "yes" is met very favorably and a response of "no" brings whining and tears. I usually say yes...
The most coveted slot of Bedtime Branson Holding (BBH) is to go last. If you are the last one to hold him then that means you were the last one to give him a kiss and that makes you a very lucky big sister. The same question is asked every night - "Do I get to hold him last tonight daddy? [insert sibling name here] got to hold him last yesterdayyyyyy (imagine the end of this sentence in another whining voice).
So we establish BBH order and begin the routine. Lately we have been doing knock-knock jokes while big sister #1 holds Branson and then say our prayers after big sister #2 has had a minute of cuddling with our little sea otter.
Then I try to leave the room and each night both girls tell me that they did not get to hug and kiss him goodnight even though I just watched them virtually smother him with hugs and kisses so we make one final round and then I literally run out of the room before they can confuse me with more of their little kid jedi mind tricks.
I shall leave you with our favorite knock-knock jokes:
(Ava) Knock-knock
(Daddy) Who's there?
(Ava) Window
(Daddy) Window who?
(Ava) Door
(Ellie) Knock-knock
(Daddy) Who's there?
(Ellie) Branson
