Toys of Yesteryear: Kenner's Girders and Panels

When I was in Cleveland a few weeks ago for my Grandmother's funeral, my dad and I went over to his parents house to check in and see the amazing progress my Uncle Tom has made in cleaning the place up.  Dad and Uncle Tom had a number of toy related items that they let me take home to my kids.  I have to say...old toys are so darn cool!  I brought back a really cool building set called "Kenner's Girders and Panels Building Set" which is like a lego set for the 60's.  It was created during a time of insane development in our country and I am sure kids who were driving around their cities seeing skyscrapers and new roads being built were attracted to the idea of a toy that let them model that out on a smaller scale.

The structure you see in the pictures below were created by Ava and I.  They may not last long b/c when I asked Branson if he wanted to play cars with the building he said "no, I want to knock it down."  Ouch.  Guess he does not like our sense of architectural style...
