Hello Halloween 2009!!

10 Halloween 04610 Halloween 03510 Halloween 034

I am always reminded of the Jerry Seinfeld bit during Halloween when he explains how mind blowing it was when the concept of Halloween was explained to him.  "I can wear that" - all you hard core Jerry fans will know it :)

The kids were super excited to be a 1980's Bridesmaid (Ellie), an angel (Ava), and the well used costume of a Giraffe for the Bransonator.  The Murphy's came over, we enjoyed some Hawthorne's pizza, and then hit the pavement.  It was a really warm, misty (at times rainy) night.  Very different from the Halloween of 1994 when we went out in 10 inches of snow back in the Burgh...

It is always a fun, high energy night with all the people out in the streets.  We did comment on how many more houses were dark and not handing out candy than when we were kids.  The theory I heard tonight is that the southern tradition of the "fall festival" has killed halloween.  I think I even heard one of the kids on his way up the sidewalk of a lit house yelling "you didn't kill halloween at this house did you ya darn fall festivals!!"  - no lie..

Fun was had.  Mass quantities of sugar were consumed.  Small children were scared by fake plastic snakes and masks.  Tears were shed over stolen candy.  Ahhh... Halloween.  Can't wait till next year!!

  1. Very cute!
I liked how Branson just parked himself by the candy bowl in the video.... smart little guy. Why go get 1 piece at a time with all that walking, when you can get the whole load in one place?!
