Last week at school Ellie's teacher had them do a little writing exercise and Ellie decided to write about her weekend.  I love how kids have no filter - they say it how it is.  Reading a kids writing is like seeing directly into their soul - it is so amazing.

I also love the spelling - you can almost see their minds working out what their ears are hearing:

  • wint = went

  • playd = played

  • stok = stuck

  • linsey = lindsey

  • raveole = ravioli

  • wid word = wide world

Having the background on this weekend obviously helps when trying to read the story.  Here it is...  After being downtown, we came back up to Highland Creek and went to our friends Shawn and Lindsey's for dinner.  Ellie and Ava played with "there kid" who is named Reilly.  During this play time, Ava stuck a toy hippo on Ellie's head - the hippo had velcro in it's mouth so it could hold other toys in it securely.  Well...it VERY securely held Ellie's hair in it's mouth.  After we put the scissors away we had dinner - Lindsey made a raviolli dish for the first time.  Ellie LOVED it and could not get enough.  She ate more than any of us.  That should give you what you need to appreciate the story below.  Enjoy.
