It's All About Twizzlers

Karin’s youngest sister Katie and her husband Graham are currently in Switzerland.  The other day at the store Ava was reminding us that they were not in town.  She said something about Aunt Katie and then said “but she’s not here – she’s in Twizlerland.”  I love it when kids fill in the blanks with their own words.

This weekend we were supposed to be camping in Montreat, but this darn noreaster storm system put an end to that.  So…to try and salvage this major disappointment for the kids, we agreed to let them “camp” in our room last night.  I put up the cots I borrowed from my friend Todd, and they slept like babies all night.  In the morning Karin and I asked Ava how she slept.  She said “I slept good but I got all crumpy.”  We said “huh?  What is crumpy, Ava?”   She said “you know, when your blankets get messed up…like a twizzler.”  Hmmm ok…well that is what we should expect from our very visual second born….the one who describes trees blowing in the wind as “dancing” and who once described the act of putting a paper note under the door to daddys office as “snugging it under the door.”

  1. Maybe I should buy some Twizzlers to give them before I see them Saturday?? haha - her mind works in such creative ways... I bet she's going to invent some crazy piece of technology someday.
